Using Anycast Addressing to Increase DNS Availability and Performance

Register Now

Put anycast to work for you!

Anycast addressing enables multiple DNS servers to share a common IP address, letting the routing infrastructure route DNS queries to the nearest available DNS server. Anycast has been successfully implemented for several Internet root DNS servers and is credited with successfully minimizing the impact of a major distributed denial of service attack on these DNS servers in February 2007. However, increasing resiliency is not anycast's only benefit. Implementation of anycast addressing can also positively impact DNS performance and efficiency. But, as with any enabling technology, it is not a panacea and provides value only when deployed appropriately.

Attend this free webinar to learn how and when to implement anycast DNS addressing for maximum results.

Using Anycast Addressing to Increase DNS Availability and Performance

The IP Management webinar series from BT Diamond IP continues with a discussion of how anycast addressing can be used to improve DNS service availability and performance. IP networking expert Tim Rooney will discuss:

  • Anycast addressing overview
    - How anycast addressing works
    - The router perspective
  • Who can benefit from anycast
  • Anycast caveats
  • Implementing anycast DNS
